Contractor Grade PTFE Tape – 550PQ Series – 4 mil
Pipe Thread Seal Tape
Suitable for standard, non-challenging thread seal requirements.
Temperature Range: 375°F to 500°F
PTFE pipe thread sealant tape creates a leak-proof seal and applies incredibly easily. Commonly referred to as “pipe dope”, “plumber’s tape” or even incorrectly referred to as “Teflon Tape”, thread seal tape is actually used in many industries other than plumbing. It works best on pipe and threaded fixtures made from iron, copper, steel, brass, aluminum, PVC, ABS, polypropylene, and more. All products are packed in a plastic spool/shell. Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) is stable, non-toxic, and more importantly, hydrophobic. This makes it a perfect substance for thread sealing tape which won’t harden or crack against moisture.
All our PTFE products listed below either meet (550PQ, 550U, 555) or exceed (556, 558) Military specification MIL-T-27730A (superseded by A-A-58092).
Ensuring leak-proof seals on pipes made from many different materials, transporting fluids and gases such as: water, gasohol, acids, compressed air, steam, flammable gas, oils, and petroleum solvents. It requires no curing time, is non-flammable, non-toxic, and prevents electrolytic corrosion of threads.
As a pipe thread seal tape distributor, we offer five classes of this product:
